A Rose In Bloom

28 January 2014; a dark day for the youth and training orchestra Haps, St. Hubert and Langenboom. Gertie Lange became involved in a terrible traffic accident that killed her. Conductor Jos Laarakker wanted to keep a lasting memory of her alive in the form of a composition. In consultation with Jos and the family I chose to write a composition to commemorate her in how and who she was: A quiet but cheerful trumpet player who was in the prime of her life and who was full of plans for the future, hence the title "A Rose in Bloom". - Ivo Kouwenhoven
