At the Midwest Clinic in 2012 I had the pleasure to enjoy some Italian cuisine (despite being in America) with the Neo Tubium musical director Akira Toda. During dinner, while imploring him to write a new concert work, we enjoyed chatting about all things musical. The impression we got of Chicago in that restaurant, as well as in many other situations is what helped make this work, 'Chicago City'.
For my Euphonium-Tuba Ensemble, I feel this is a comparatively easy piece that I hope can be enjoyed by a wide range of people.
