Etude was written for Clarinet Octet in July, 2003.

It was premiered by Kawagoe Sowa Wind Ensemble clarinet members at the Saitama Clarinet Joint Concert, June 2004.

This very simple work is in three parts noted as Allegro, Maestoso, and Allegro.

The time signature is 5/8, 4/4, and 5/8, and Maestoso, sandwiched between the dynamic Allegro, is remarkably calm. The Allegro part has already been used in brass band works and euphonium tuba ensembles in the same way. It's not a work that tries to express something concrete, but I'm happy if the real thrill of the clarinet ensemble can be conveyed to the audience.

In addition, there are some challenges in breathing, so I would like you to devise clever phrasing and so on.
