Commissioned by Sonor Clarinet Ensemble (Iida City, Nagano Prefecture).
Being written in August, I titled it Passacaglia of August.
As the name suggests the musical style, one melody is repeated throughout the piece.
The eight bar melodic phrase changes character, morphing into various forms according to tempo, time signature, and music style.
Within this characteristic, each part interweaves in a multilayered manner while richly and expressively coloring the songs.
I hope you enjoy the particular effect of expansive, warm sounds unique to the clarinet family.
