The award-winning composition "Ameraustrica" tells the story of the composer’s fantastic year in the United States as an exchange student. Full of impressions and influences from a variety of sources, "Ameraustrica" contains a mixture of a heroic music, anthem-like hymns and soundtrack-like passages that reflect several styles that he picked up during his experiences with American band music. This composition was written by the young and talented Austrian composer/conductor Patrick Hahn at the age of 16. It won 2nd prize in the 2013 Penfield Music Commission Project Contest (New York, USA), chosen from 170 submissions worldwide.
