In a series of three compositions, Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844-1908) wrote three pieces for solo instrument with military band accompaniment: for oboe, trombone and finally clarinet. Rimsky-Korsakov was a celebrated composer who taught numerous masters, such as Serge Prokofieff and Igor Stravinsky. This clarinet concerto was recorded on January 24th 2008, performed by Arno Piters, solo clarinettist at the Dutch Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. The CD that features this piece, Tierolff for Band Nr. 22, is available at your local music store.
