Within 1 business dayFanfare. Englishman Edward Elgar (1857 - 1934) wrote this fanfare titled “Civic Fanfare” on the occasion of the opening of the “Three Choirs Festval” at Hereford Cathedral in 1927. Notable in the original score for symphony orchestra is the absence of the violin 1 and 2 parts!
Prayer. This part is from the “Requiem” opus 283 by Julius Fučík and in it is part 3, “Sanctus.” From this Czech military conductor and composer of mostly concertante light music, one would not immediately expect such a spiritual work. Yet among Fučík's more than 400 compositions are 2 requiems. His opus 283 dates from the year 1898.
Serenade. “Schwanengesang” opus 957 is the title of a collection of songs by Austrian Franz Schubert (1797 - 1828), composed at the end of his young life and published posthumously. Number 4 in this collection is “Serenade,” also called “Ständchen” and “Leise Flehen Meine Lieder.” Schubert is undoubtedly one of the greatest masters of art song and this “Serenade” has become one of his best-known songs.
