Within 1 business dayFestival Sounds was commissioned by the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Police Orchestra (Germany) in 2017 on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of its existence and premiered on 4 May 2018 under the direction of chief conductor Christof Koert. The history of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania as a political entity begins in 1945 with the unification of the state of Mecklenburg with the remaining part of Western Pomerania near Germany. Both countries have their own anthems, the "Mecklenburger Land" and the "Pommern Lied". The Austrian composer Thomas Asanger used both hymns as a basis in this composition and formed them into a wonderful opening piece.
