Patrick H. Hahn

Patrick H. Hahn was born in Graz, Austria in 1995. Regular involvement with the opera as a singer in his youth resulted in him composing an original opera, which he wrote at the age of twelve. This opera was premiered with the composer conducting in 2008. Since then he has won numerous composition prizes in Austria and abroad. His first wind band composition, “Ameraustrica,” was awarded 2nd prize out of 170 entries from all over the world at the 2013 Penfield Music Commission Project Contest in New York (United States).

During his school days he studied the piano with Maria Zgubic from 2006 to 2012, and since 2012, he has studied conducting at the University of Graz. Hahn is also active in North America where he conducts concerts and premieres. He has been awarded several prizes as a jazz pianist at festivals in La Crosse, Wisconsin and Chicago, Illinois. He received the “Outstanding Soloist Award” at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse as the best jazz pianist at their 37th annual jazz festival.
