Within 1 business dayThis rhapsody was composed in 2005 on the occasion of the project â€Solowerke für Wettbewerb“ (Solo Pieces for Contests) in the Gmunden region (Austria). The rhapsody starts rather unconventionally with a cadenza that leads to a lyrical andante in the classical A-B-A format. The fast ending part in rondo form puts the alto saxophone as virtuoso solo instrument in the spotlight, as opposed to the lyrical beginning. The essence of both parts are the sound and rhythmical expansion of the two interludes: an andante in 7/8 time and a ‘minimal music’ piece in the allegro, giving this piece an extraordinary dimension and offer both musicians and audience a truly unique experience. Due to the great success of the version for Concert Band, an adaptation was made for Fanfare band by Dutchman Hans Kroon. Also since 2020 there is a version for Alto Saxophone & Piano.
