Within 1 business day"Village of Love," originally titled "Kampong Love," is a dynamic and catchy flexible ensemble piece inspired by the lively Malay folk songs that left a lasting impression on the composer during his Primary School years. Drawing from the melodies of "Di-Tanjong Katong" and "Rasa Sayang," the composition serves as a vibrant tribute to the cultural heritage of the Malay community. Commissioned by the Ministry of Education in Singapore and supported by the Temasek Foundation, this work is a celebration of love, community, and the diverse cultural tapestry that defines Singapore's essence. The composer adeptly intertwines the two folk songs into a harmonious musical journey, resonating with the spirit of togetherness and unity. This work also served as the Set Piece for the “Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Goes Online”, “SYFplaysON!” in 2021, allowing students to showcase their interpretations with varied instrumentation in online performances, highlighting the composition's adaptability and broad appeal.
