It is spread over three states in the U.S. Is included in the UNESCO World Patrimony list, and covers an area as large as Cyprus. The park is situated in a volcanic area and boasts hot water sources, geysers and volcanic formations. It was after a visit to the park that the composer, impressed by the site, experienced a feeling of liberty and decided to compose this "Yellowstone Overture."
