You Are So Beautiful is a song written by Billy Preston (1946-2006) and Bruce Fisher (b. 1954). It was first recorded by Preston and later made popular by Joe Cocker (1944- 2014). The original Preston version was released in 1974, but only after Cocker’s producer Jim Price created a slowed-down version did it take off on the charts, reaching No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and helping propel Cocker’s album I Can Stand A Little Rain into a success. Another well-known Cocker tune is Lift Us Up Where We Belong, a duet with Jennifer Warnes, from 1982.
