Boreas

Boreas was written in February, 2019 commissioned by Gral Wind Orchestra The commission asked for a strong forte introduction at a quick pace. A simple, yet insistent G-Bb motive continues as a theme throughout the piece. Other themes and harmonies appear and wane, and the work concludes with a profound restatement of that ever-present minor third motive. "Boreas" is the Greek god of the cold north wind and the bringer of winter. Though the title was determined after completion, it suitably matches the image of this work.
