Dream Fragments- Flexible Quintet

Commissioned for the 60th anniversary of the Hiroshima State Band Association. In ABA form, with a slow introduction, the story regards a boy who awakes in an unfamiliar place. While challenged by the new environment, he creates a way to the future.
It was designed for mixed instruments in flexible 5-7 voices (five wind parts and two optional percussion). A good woodwind foundation will make it easier to have a stable sound. When adding percussion, marimba is ideal for part 6.
Pay attention to the balance between main melody and accompaniment. Differentiate each part by emphasizing color and dynamics to make the performance more dramatic.
