Sous 1 jour ouvrableComposed in 2021 as a wind and percussion octet commissioned by Higashikagura Junior High School Wind Orchestra in Higashikagura, Hokkaido, and was later revised for wind orchestra. The latter half of the piece is newly added.
As the subtitle suggests, it is based on the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in Ukraine on April 26, 1986. The "elephant's foot" is the common name for the huge amount of meltdown-related substances. When I started the composition, I did not expect the military invasion of Ukraine that we see today. In the turmoil, it might be controversial to handle such a subject. However, I hope that many people, both those who perform the piece and those who listen to it, will think and feel about the past events and the nuclear power plant issue through this piece.
