Master educator Yo Goto cleverly enhances the teaching capacity of the band chorale for the benefit and enjoyment of your students. As chorales are "the necessary path for band musicians to make beautiful harmony and achieve musical excellences" the genre can also be more diverse and practical than the standard application of the four-part choir, to study musical fundamentals beyond balance and blend.
"Thus I have decided to arrange something familiar in chorales. Chorales based on Japanese traditional harmony, minor keys, and atypical chord progressions that we often hear. I intentionally utilized various time signatures, tonalities and tempos, helping musicians learn to read music and musical signatures." While the chorale tradition focuses on vertical sound, here we promote horizontal awareness through independent melodic lines and counterpoint to stress a more three-dimensional awareness compelling individuals to work together towards ideal ensemble sound.
Moreover, these are scored with flexible instrumentation to accommodate current social settings. There are 1-4 parts with soprano, alto, tenor and bass. The combinations of instruments are infinite.
