The motifs of the trio of the same name (S. Sax., A. Sax., and Piano) commissioned by saxophonist Katsunori Yoshioka, are used in this revision work. OORITOORI, which was proposed by Mr. Yoshioka, means "welcome" in the dialect of the Yaeyama Islands. I thought it would be nice to have it played as an opener, so I decided to call it "Overture for Wind Ensemble".
The Yaeyama Islands are located further south than Okinawa and are famous for folk songs such as "Tubarama". This piece has a bright Ryukyuan scale style atmosphere that evokes such southern islands, so we hope you can imagine the soft, warm sound of this piece in performance.
