The piece was written in August 2017 for Miki Sugiura, a horn player in Brass Ensemble Rose, and premiered in December 2019. According to Miki, the horn evokes the image of a 'forest', perhaps because of its history of being used to signal to fellow hunters. I can relate to this image very well, and in this piece, I tried to imagine the sound of horns echoing from afar in a wide meadow. Towards the end of the piece, the unique tone-changing quality of the horn is also utilized. I hope you enjoy the soft, sometimes powerful, and truly fantastic sound of the horn.
