Sous 1 jour ouvrableCommissioned by Sagamihara Seiryo High School in November, 2019, when the school was closing due to local consolidation. It was dedicated to the last thirteen members, and the piece was re-edited to fit small band instrumentation.
The title Sirius came from sincere wishes of the band members, Sirius being α Canis Majoris and the brightest star in the night sky. The song wishes members a brilliant future like shining stars.
The piece is in A-B-A sonata form. The latter A incorporates themes of B. The translucent and lively introduction, shining quick melody and slow lyrical middle part offer many elements for musical expression. (Hirokazu Fukushima)
This piece can be performed by as little as under 20 people.
