Sous 1 jour ouvrableComposed for my CDã€Chingis Khan / Works of Eiji Suzuki Vol. 3ã€(Brain Music BOCD-7367), it is comprised of two small pieces accessible for various sized wind bands having from small to large instrumentation.
The first piece, Song, has a melodic motif introduced by the piano. As additional voices and harmonies are added to the motif, the music unfolds to its climactic point. Then, it gradually recedes. As the tempo is consistent, it is easy to sense the progress of tension and release created by the music.
The second song is called Legend. This is a fanfare based on the motif from the first piece. The middle section of this piece is an inversion of the motif. The two pieces are closely related.
Give close attention to sustaining musical intensity for the duration of the work. Maintain sound quality. The fortes need a large, warm timbre (especially on the long, sustained notes), and percussion needs to produce a deep tone quality.
