Sous 1 jour ouvrableI received a commission from Mariko Yamamoto of the Japan Ladies Brass to arrange "Merry Widow Selections" in the British brass band style. I gave special attention to feature the colorful tones of brass instruments. I purposely switched sections and scored some parts more thinly to better adapt the work to this special ensemble sound.
Please remember to play leggiero at faster tempi. Brass band works tend to sound heavy at times, but strive to control the shape of the sound and share a sense of direction in the ensemble. I also implemented a unique British style chorus in the middle. It definitely adds something extra beyond the wind band arrangement.
