Sous 1 jour ouvrableIshikiri Junior High School's band director, Akihiko Terasawa played much of my work while I was a young composer. Especially, my Ancient Gods series including Sea Goddess were his favorites. Through our friendship, I was invited to clinic his band in Osaka every year.
2019 was Terasawa-san's last year to attend band contest. I used the myth of the ancient sword of Ishikiri to celebrate his retirement and his band. It's about a sacred sword, Futsunomitama in the Japanese myth. In the neighborhood shrine, an arrowhead and sword are deified. Based on Japanese modes, my unique rhythms and harmony are well-featured. (Hiroaki Kataoka)
